Brat summer is not over—I’m taking it to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Senseable City Lab Lab as a Visiting PhD Student. Excited to make the most of this fall!

Mariana Macedo finds that representation of women is still lower even if their participation is starting to increase. The importance of productivity is much higher for women than men; 8-38 times more productivity is needed to be top-ranked. Follow Women in Network Science (WiNS) Society & cite women

Chiara Zappalà finds that women have less opportunity to acquire and diffuse knowledge in collaboration networks. There are less informed women, and more time is needed to disseminate knowledge according to their models. Meaning; (job) opportunities reach women slower.

Want to hear about the gender gaps in human mobility? Today I will be talking about it at Network Science Institute at 14 (EDT) If you're in Boston, join us in person! If you can't make it, you can catch the discussion online at: networkscienceinstitute.org/talks/silvia-d…

Yesterday was unforgettable! The Counting Femicide book launch with Catherine D'Ignazio @kanarinka.bsky.social, Harini Suresh @harinisuresh.bsky.social, and Alessandra Junges de Almeida was truly inspiring— such a refreshing take on data science and our role as researchers. Let's not forget: the answer is in the community.

Federico Delussu is kicking off the NetMob Data Challenge!!! 🚀 This year, we unpack the role of the built environment in segregation within mobility networks in developing countries. Proud of the hard work done with a brilliant team Yuan Liao (@yuanliao.bsky.social) Laura Alessandretti Louis Silvia De Sojo @sdesojo.bsky.social
