Great to hear @Defra Secretary Steve Reed speak at Natural History Museum WWF event to kick off COP 16 summit in Colombia to protect & restore nature!

Nature is in crisis. This week, Secretary of State Steve Reed set out the UK’s commitment to go further and faster to save it. Thank you to MinAmbiente Colombia, Natural History Museum, and WWF UK for setting the stage for an ambitious #COP16.

Delighted to share Natural History Museum policy brief on #30by30 ahead of #COP16! Brand new analysis shows that protected areas aren't doing enough for the most critical ecosystem services. If we want 30by30 to work for nature and people, we need a rethink. nhm.ac.uk/our-science/se…

Great to see this coverage of Natural History Museum's new #30by30 policy brief. “We urgently need to move beyond the current approach of simply designating more protected areas to 30x30... this will not automatically result in better outcomes for biodiversity and ecosystems.” #COP16

Great to see the UK's nature champions out in force. Hope the Natural History Museum team will cross paths with many of you over the coming days...

Fantastic to see winning images from Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year on display at Monad Foundation⨀ in Cali! Huge thanks to Embajador Británico - George Hodgson plus numerous museum and embassy colleagues for making it happen during #COP16

"Those profiting from nature cannot use it as a free infinite resource, they must step up.” António Guterres at #COP16Colombia demands action on Digital Sequence Information (DSI). It's time for an agreement at COP16 that ensures profits from nature contribute to its restoration

V interesting to read that “the majority of areas important for ecosystem functions and services… are unprotected” - reinforces key conclusion in Natural History Museum’s new #30by30 policy brief nhm.ac.uk/our-science/se… #COP16

For those attending the HAC for Nature and People #30x30 Action Day at #COP16, check out Natural History Museum’s new analysis on how well protected areas are doing for nature and people, and how we can rethink the delivery of 30by30, globally and nationally nhm.ac.uk/our-science/se…

We’re kickstarting new international efforts to protect and restore nature. Today Steve Reed MP sets out the path to protect 30% of land by 2030. Supercharging nature protection at home and abroad is a key part of the Government’s mission. #COP16 More: gov.uk/government/new…
