Today we were ready to work for as long as it took to reach a fair deal, but management walked away from the table with five hours to go. It’s official: NYTimesGuild members are walking out for 24 hours on Thursday. We know what we’re worth.

As we head toward #LaborDay, we’re celebrating the incredible work of our members that powers The New York Times. We reminded management about our value in Slack recently, which prompted the bosses to have some "non-disciplinary" conversations with us.
By a vote of 524-28, 95% of our members have just authorized a strike. As we head into the final weeks of this Election season, and on this important Debate day, we want the The New York Times to hear us: We are ready to do whatever it takes to get to a fair deal.
