The SAEF team enjoying a sunny day at the beach in the Bunger Hills. 😎 This was no lazy day on the sand, the team were hard at work collecting samples and data. 📊🪨🌿 They report it was still a bit cold for a swim in the frozen ocean. 🥶 ➡️ arcsaef.com/denman-terrest…

After being snowed in at the Bunger Hills ⛺️ we headed back out to the Denman Glacier for one last week on the ice, looking for clues (of the 🪨 variety) that will reveal the history of the glacier since the last ice age 🧊. The sun has set on our Antarctic season. A challenging and rewarding two months researching Denman Glacier. We leave with lots of samples to work on in the lab over the coming year! Follow Jacinda O'Connor Corey Port Levan Tielidze for updates!

"12,000 Years in Greenland" based on the 2023 PhD Dissertation of Roger Creel 4 line graphs all showing 12,000 years: -Top sky curve: June Insolation at 65 degrees N -Lower sky curve: surface air temperature at the GIS -Top of the ice: volume of the GIS -Bottom of the ice: GMSL

New paper out on Holocene thinning in Greenland! - rising air & ocean temperatures possibly drove retreat at start of the Holocene - rapid thinning then occurred at 10-8.5 ka due to marine ice sheet instability - paleo rates are at the upper bounds of contemporary ice streams
