An extra £1 billion for SEND & £300 million for FE. That’s good news for sure. But will any of this new funding find its way to specialist colleges? It’s vital that these publicly funded colleges supporting young people, often with very complex needs, get their fair share.

The system is 'adversarial' because unlawful decisions are routinely made. Families - reasonably - appeal against these. The SEND Tribunal then rules that unlawful decisions are unlawful. Get the decision-making right first time, and the system will become less adversarial.

Good start to the day when you see an email from an #send case officer to a parent containing; 1. a refusal to consult with parent's preferred school (unlawful); & 2. reference to an Act that does not exist. but its parents that are the problem with the #ehcp system ?!
