Exciting opportunity for a fully funded PhD position on "Probing The Local Structure of Functional Materials Under High Pressure" between my group Warwick Chemistry and Dr Nick Funnell ISIS Neutron and Muon Source jobs.ac.uk/job/CVW883/phd…. Please RT or get in touch if interested!

Is THAT time of the year! If you are thinking about embarking into a PhD, check out these HetSys CDT projects! There's one co-supervised by myself and James Sprittles MicroNanoFlows, more details at jobs.ac.uk/job/CVX495/phd…. RT appreciated! #compchem Warwick Chemistry CaTCh@Warwick

Come and work with Reinhard Maurer and I on an exciting PhD project applying machine learning to electronic structure, building on our ACEhamiltonians framework(nature.com/articles/s4152…). Closing date 25 Jan

Can't wait to be here on research leave European Synchrotron April -August this year. Sadly I will probably be too late for the snow!

Christopher Keegan's tsmcdt Imperial College London work on "The origin of strain-induced stabilisation of superconductivity in the lanthanum cuprates" is now on arXiv arxiv.org/abs/2302.09588 with Arash Mostofi and Nick Bristowe Durham Physics

A great first week of research leave as a visiting scientist here European Synchrotron hosted by jonathan wright. The cycling in the chartreuse massif hasn't been too bad either!

And we’re back out! This time for my own experiment - time to look at some magnetic structures and anion ordering Institut Laue-Langevin

Very happy to have received Prof Derek Sinclair from The University of Sheffield to give an invited talk at Warwick about his work on energetic "chameleon" d0 perovskites - a fantastic talk on some fantastic materials!

Had a fantastic time attending (and first time presenting!) the PCG Winter Crystallography Meeting with ISIS Neutron and Muon Source Diamond Light Source BCA - loads of really interesting talks and posters, and a massive thank you to the organisers!

An absolute pleasure to have received the 2023 BTM Willis Prize winner Dr Otto Mustonen to talk about his work on realising exotic models of quantum magnetism in perovskite oxides - very interesting stuff!

Our work on the "Structural origins of dielectric anomalies in the filled tetragonal tungsten bronze Sr2NaNb5O15", led by Dr Jere Tidey is out now in Communications Materials. rdcu.be/dHeLI

And the week continues to get better with Cat Crawford first first author paper on "The Interplay of Electronic Configuration and Anion Ordering on the Magnetic Behavior of Hydroxyfluoride Diaspores" pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac… just published in Inorganic Chemistry!

Come and work with us! We are currently recruiting a The Leverhulme Trust funded 2 year PDRA position in high pressure crystallography: warwick-careers.tal.net/vx/appcentre-e… co-supervised with Dr Nick Funnell ISIS Neutron and Muon Source and Sosso Group Warwick Chemistry Please RT!
