So shocking to see the USA killing the goose which has laid so many of its golden eggs. NIH supported research and the trainees funded by it have done so much to fuel American dominance in pharma/biotech

Can you really reverse type-2 diabetes just by losing weight? A new Lancet meta-analysis of 22 global RCTs says a clear: YES. And, for the first time, we have a formula for calculating the odds of success! Let’s bust the “magic diets” myth and look at the data. 🧵👇

Vaccination generally, the MMR vaccine specifically, thimerosal in vaccines, mercury in vaccines... None of it is associated with autism across cohort studies.

We take it for granted today, but a single hour on the internet exposes you to more concentrated stupidity than a peasant in the 1400s would get in his whole lifetime.

"[Chronic inflammation rising with age]... appears to be largely a byproduct of industrialized lifestyles, with major variation across environments and populations." Looks interesting. I haven't gotten the full text yet. h/t Joe Henrich doi.org/10.1038/s43587…

Grok is a capable AI model but it can't be trusted. This is the third time Musk has gotten busted for biasing it toward his personal views. Talk about "maximally truth-seeking" AI is just lip service. It's being crafted into a propaganda tool.

This is huge. PEPFAR is the US gov's HIV treatment/prevention program in low-income countries that has saved tens of millions of lives and prevented millions of babies from acquiring HIV. I'm glad that enough people had a heart and a spine to push back against the aid cuts.

Many modern foods are supernormal stimuli that overstimulate our natural reward-seeking brain circuitry. This causes problems for individuals and society. Supernormal stimuli aren't limited to food: social media, porn, gambling, drugs. AI companions are supernormal stimuli.
