Institutionalized racism working as designed. Felicity Huffman sentenced to 2 weeks in jail for paying $15,000 to rig her daughter’s SAT. Tanya McDowell, a Black woman who was homeless, sentenced to 12 years for sending her child to school in Norwalk, but ‘lived’ in Bridgeport.

Immense gratitude to UCSF School of Medicine Dr. David Wofsy for his transformative leadership—markedly increased matriculation of diverse/UIM students at UCSF and tirelessly advocates for equity policies & reduction in med school debt. Popular speaker at welcoming White Coat ceremony!

So honored to witness @jbullockruns 's poignant transparency many times over the years. Such a role model. "Our lives are worth more than the 2 hours we are gone each week. " The system has to change.

Please stop using the terms “difficult patient/parent”. They are not GIVING you a hard time, they are HAVING a hard time. Difficult situation 4 sure, but it’s (usually) not about you. Try substituting “difficult family member” w “passionate advocate”. Reframing helps.

It would be cool if for Mother’s Day we collectively worked to achieve things that would actually benefit mothers like childcare, universal healthcare, pay equity, and maternity leave policies that enable bonding and don’t cause harm. But sure, flowers are nice.

Loved getting to sit down with @Dr_Zakama and explore the important topic of BIPOC experiences of racism during residency interviews as discussed in my recent NEJM pice: “I Can’t Breathe During Interviews: the Incomplete Penetrance of Antiracism.” 👀 👀

So much of giving and receiving medical care is paying respect to experience of being alive and needing witnesses to that. This is true healing #medical #artofhealing x.com/leighkimberg/s…

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate Black History Month with SNMA this year! A few of our members came together to celebrate the 1960s civil rights heroes who fought so that students of color could study medicine at UCSF. #SNMA #basementpeople UC San Francisco UCSF School of Medicine
