Of all the things for people to be criticizing, I can't believe anyone is focused on men and their interest in serious fiction.

I've gotten through a mountain of work recently, and just want to put a message out into the universe that I never take the opportunities I get for granted and am incredible grateful.

I've never had artwork designed specifically for one of my poems that made it seem as big a deal as an upcoming film premiere. This is impressive!

It's a poem about aging, the joy of living and the relationship between fathers and sons. It's also a poem about sneakers, of which there can never be too many. Thanks to Brandon Nadeau for including this in MoonLit Getaway! moonlitgetaway.com/poem/tread-rec…

I probably spent a collective two-plus hours walking in the city today. At one point I stopped in a coffee shop to write a poem and now I'm about to write another and I don't think it's a coincidence.

Some short stories are so good you wish they were expanded into an entire novel, or even a series of novels. The title story from Denis Johnson's 'The Largesse of the Sea Maiden' is like that for me.

You don't have to wait for inspiration to come, but when it does, its okay to almost sigh with relief -- that it showed up after all, that it doesn't strike but in fact simply smiles, waves, and pulls up a chair ready to see what the two of you will accomplish together.

My eldest son's soccer team won their league championship tonight! This kind of thing really makes up for all the sports I did not play and/or avoided throughout my childhood and teenage years.

All week I've struggled to find the mental quiet to write a poem. Turns out it was sitting here, in this coffee shop, waiting for me. So grateful we had a chance to catch up this morning. #amwriting

Not necessarily my most productive year so far, but at least I still enjoy the challenge. (Image: from Anontioni's 'The Vanquished,' 1953)

Sometimes you see rappers or basketball players trying to describe themselves as the GOAT. I always feel like saying, "Oh really? Have you read Robert Frost?"

Oh please, world, open for us. Please, unfold your delicate petals. Please, color this landscape that's been dark for so long. Please blossom. Please bloom. (📸: Me)
