In this multi-center cohort study, we explored the context and setting of firearm injuries as a function of intent. The findings suggest no single solution; targeted interventions are needed to reduce firearm injuries. Shelbie Waddle DO, MS^2 (she/her); @ashbhinkMD; Deborah Kuhls journals.lww.com/jtrauma/fullte…

Every year at this time, I am reminded of 26 years ago when I was informed I did not match. I took a prelim year, switched specialties, and matched the next year (as a PGY-1 *again*). Now in my 19th year of level 1 trauma. Remember, there is more than one way to do things.

Check out our latest in Trauma Surgery & Acute Care Open (TSACO) describing financial challenges patients & families face after firearm injury. Crime victims assistance programs may help alleviate some financial burden, but most patients are unaware that these programs exist. Julie Valenzuela, MD FACS UMiami Health System
