This is the dream team that recorded all of the BSL for the eight films I created as part of #SHIFTVoices. Thanks so much to Chisato Minamimura, Andrew Harris and Frank Spencer of Redweather Productions for all their hardwork to get the BSL versions created! All on website now!

Back to looking in focus at the artists featured as part of #SHIFTVoices. This week is the incredible artist superstar drawer (his words not mine!), Leslie Thompson of Venture Arts. He depicts scenes from television and film from 1970 -1990 in his drawings! #LeslieThompson

🎥SOUND ON! A short snippet Of the #BSL interpreted version of Leslie Thompson’s film, shot by Bronwyn Parker Rhodes & BSL from Chisato Minamimura. Leslie has been attending Venture Arts in Manchester since the 90s & the full short film documents his practice & what he likes to draw!

Today I am sharing three ink pen works from this week's artist in focus Leslie Thompson, who attends Venture Arts in #Manchester - Animals from Memory, Back to the Future, & Animal Project. Catch more of his works & a short film about him over on the #SHIFTVoices website.

🎥Sound On!🎥 Venture Arts director Amanda Sutton features as part of Leslie Thompson’s short film, speaking about the barriers that some learning disabled artists face, and the role of the supported studio in helping them. The full video with subtitles and #BSL is on website.

The final focus on artist Leslie Thompson showcases his large fabric painting from a show called ‘Thumbs Up’ that was held at Castlefield Gallery in #Manchester. These works were inspired by a trip to Chester Zoo several years beforehand and are his first works on fabric like this!

SOUND ON! A short snippet Of the #BSL interpreted version of Siddharth Gadiyar’s film, edited by Bronwen Parker Rhodes with footage from Project Art Works and BSL from Chisato Minamimura. Sid is this weeks artist in focus for #SHIFTVoices and highlighting #LearningDisabilityWeek2022

👂🏻Sound on! More on this week’s Artist in focus Siddharth, this time hearing from his mother Susmitha. A short snippet Of the #BSL interpreted version of Sid’s film, edited by Bronwen Parker Rhodes with footage from Project Art Works, & his mother, and BSL from Chisato Minamimura.

Leslie Thompson features in a group exhibition from Venture Arts at TJ Boulting in #London. His action figure type artworks setup like a shop display feature alongside works by Ahmed Mohammed (second picture) & Horace Lindsey (third picture). Congrats to all the artists involved.
