FAMM launched a Second Chances Resource Library with resources for advocates fighting for release opportunities for people with long sentences or other circumstances warranting release from prison. This is part of our effort to create a nationwide movement for #secondchances.

There is little evidence that imposing a long prison sentence will deter people from doing the things we don't want them to. Considering we impose longer sentences than most countries in the world, if long sentences deterred people, we should have one of the safest countries.

The number of veterans in our jails and prisons is depressing. There has to be a better way to deal with these issues then reactionary charges and prison sentences.
