Congrats Dr. Kardell!! 🎉🎉 Gonna miss our early morning chats about oceanic crust, tomographic inversions, and interpreting red/blue velocity blobs #BrewinarForever

Ah yes, one of those rare days of nice weather sailing in the Southern Ocean aboard the #Langseth. Less than 24 hours later, large waves crashed over the side and broke the straps holding several instruments to the deck 😬

Although I miss the in-person #AGU experience of running to talks, grazing poster halls, and running into colleagues and friends, so far everything is smooth with the virtual #AGU2020 and I'm enjoying the science behind the safety of our computer screens

Really interesting poster presentations in the GeoPRISMS session this morning! Looking forward to the oral sessions later tonight -- no bedtime for the sake of science!

What do #rifts and #subductionzones have in common? Sure, rifters just want to drift apart, and subducters beat each other up all the time! I’ll be highlighting some unifying themes in the GeoPRISMS session tonight starting at 20:30 PST #AGU20 #GeoPRISMS agu.confex.com/agu/fm20/meeti…

What a better day than #EarthDay to have our paper published in AGU (American Geophysical Union) #Tectonics! Like rifting, strike-slip, and subduction? Our study shows how they all came together to create the perfect storm for subduction initiation at the Puysegur Trench #AGUpubs tinyurl.com/tmbkr6vj

SO excited to sail on the JOIDES Resolution for #IODP #EXP402 as a physical properties / downhole logging scientist! My first ever ocean drilling cruise. Our goal is to recover exhumed mantle rocks from the Tyrrhenian Margin 🙌🏻🇮🇹 #serpentine

Everyone is kicking it into gear here on the JR for #EXP402. We got drill collars being assembled, lab equipment being calibrated, and #lab groups meeting to sort out their work stations! BRING ON THE CORE! #ScientificOceanDrilling #science #IODP 📸Tessa Peixoto

🚀First paper from #IODP #X402 is out! In the Tyrrhenian Sea backarc basin, we drilled into an exceptionally heterogenous mantle exhumed along a detachment fault. No robust oceanic crust, yet very fertile mantle peridotite. More here: link.springer.com/article/10.103…
