C/o Richard Morris Richard Morris, this 1813 David Wilkie sketch for "The Letter of Introduction" shows bookcases identical to those designed for the Signet Library in 1808 and a colour scheme very similar to the original 1815 scheme used in the Library when new.

Patrick Adam painted the Signet Library at least six times in the Edwardian and Great War period and his works form a unique record both of the library's decorative scheme (designed by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson) of the time and of the building's life and use.

This may be the only surviving copy of this 1770s proposal for woollen manufacture in Dundee: we can't trace more, and given that this predates jute there, we wonder if a digital facsimile might be of interest to e.g. Verdant Works, the unis & and city library, the McManus etc?
