The Open Molecules 2025 dataset is out! With >100M gold-standard ωB97M-V/def2-TZVPD calcs of biomolecules, electrolytes, metal complexes, and small molecules, OMol is by far the largest, most diverse, and highest quality molecular DFT dataset for training MLIPs ever made 1/N

I'd like to talk to curators, archaeologists, or anyone with experience handling ancient artifacts. I'm making tablets to preserve text for thousands of years, and I want to better understand how durable they need to be in practice. Introductions and RTs very much appreciated.

Very happy to see this out in Acta Cryst A after an extremely thorough peer review! Kudos to Bernard for the amazing work which was initiated when I told him to ‘just look up the symmetries in the tables’ (friends, those tables didn’t exist til now ;) )

One thing I’ve learned managing scientists is that any complex chain of reasoning is almost always wrong unless there is a simple way to check the solution or to see it is correct. It’s why I don’t believe many prognostications from smart people (e.g. on consequences of AI/AGI).
