#WorldMosquitoDay 🦟 ❓ Did you know the mosquito species that transmit #dengue are rapidly spreading to new countries due to #ClimateChange? Dengue is classified by World Health Organization (WHO) as a top 10 public health threat - but there are no specific drugs to treat it. (🧵 1/2)


It is a great honour to be given the responsability to undertake the position of Head of Dengue Global Programme at Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative from Neelika Malavige. Better still is to share the aim of developing effective and accessible treatments agaisnt dengue with great partner and the best people!

Delighted to announce that Dr Kavita Singh will be talking to us this week on the work thar has been done for mycetoma.


We support World Health Organization (WHO)'s global strategic plan to tackle #dengue. There is still no specific treatment for dengue, so we agree that investigating potential therapeutic approaches to reduce disease severity and prevent complications - a key point in the plan - is crucial.
