Labour promised to 'get Britain building again' when it came into power. But faced with weak economic growth, a stagnant housing market and planning barriers, developers are not moving fast enough for the government to hit its targets, ITV News Business Editor Joel Hills reports.

The Government says they want to get Britain building A year in, they are on course to miss their 1.5 million homes target by almost half a million homes Remember - they are now *watering down* their planning reforms to make it easier to build No10 and HMT need to get a grip

Really important new Public First study today: 💥 Among 30-39s, those open to voting Conservative are MOST likely to be YIMBY (75%) of the main parties 💥 55% of people are generally supportive of new development 💥 Compelling case for a more representative planning system

People aren't coming to Britain from France because they're fleeing war. They're coming because they'll be put up in hotels while they work illegally, with an excellent chance at permanent settlement, and negligible odds of deportation if their asylum application is denied

Imagine explaining to someone from any other point of British history that after one of these men sexually assaulted a 14 year old girl, the Government would then use the courts to ensure that they could offer more of these men hotel rooms across Britain

Pleasure to do this and talk through Britain Remade’s work. Much more to come on nuclear regs in the coming weeks…

Starmer said last month: "I am strongly in favour of free speech; we've had free speech in this country for a very long time and we protect it fiercely." In reality, activists are routinely arrested over allegations of thought and writing.

The Treasury's planned changes to landfill tax are total rubbish that could add £25,000 to the cost of building a new home. Email your MP to tell them to bin this rubbish tax: britainremade.co.uk/binthisrubbish…

Whoever takes over has a tough job. Rayner was on course to miss Labour's 1.5 million home target by close to half a million homes.

It’s very Keir that this huge reshuffle to shakeup the status quo involves everyone in the cabinet who hasn’t resigned for tax purposes, still being in the cabinet

They are set to miss their housebuilding target by half a million homes, and the watered down Planning Bill means we will still have bat tunnels No10: you don't need performative growth submissions from DCMS. Amend the Bill that's in Parliament so it does what you claim it will

The test for whether this is real is what happens to the Planning Bill. - Will the SoS reverse the recent watering down of the Bill? - Will the SoS introduce the ability for Ministers to override the Habs Regs in building critical infrastructure? If not - this is just noise.
