Today I got the best peer review of my career (I’m a physicist with 150+ publications, Science, PRL). It was from GPT-5 Pro on a paper draft I’m writing. We’re entering a new era of science.

Today would have been my father's 78th birthday. He died aged 42. My stepfather and father-in-law didn't get old either, leaving behind two widows. Women, take good care of your men, they don't last long. 💞

The hype cycle is finally over. That LLMs are not intelligent is now a generally accepted fact. I can't believe it took so much time and effort to get to this point.

One of the biggest developments in physics right now is that dark energy seems to be getting weaker. A new paper finds that this is neatly compatible with string theory. youtube.com/watch?v=W3GDsM…

Over three million citations, an h-index approaching 1,700 and many 2025 papers that have been cited over 1,000 times. Can this be legitimate? buff.ly/F4IE2R0 (archived at buff.ly/0yVjvpu)

I am actually quite happy with GPT 5. I mean, could always be better, but it does have its uses. I wouldn't have said the same thing last year, but some time earlier this year LLMs crossed a usefulness threshold for me. Or maybe I've just learned what *not* to ask...
