This is one shockingly good improvement in precision! Usually "significant improvement" is 20% max, this is more like 700%. Just wow!

Awesome, Elon replies “interesting” to Martin’s tweet, and now 1.7M million people have learned that proton is far more complex than they had ever thought :) I usually finish my “Introduction to Particle Physics I” with this animation. Next class starting on September 2, welcome!

Strawberry (o1-preview) does seem impressive on the first try. And it did beat me on a PhD level science question like the third graph suggests. (Although I had a hunch I got it wrong on the first quick attempt, and was checking my logic.)

Incredible W mass measurement from CMS! Theory agnostic, effectively making a LEP-level Z boson mass measurement merely as a cross-check is such a flex 🍾🥳

I totally thought this was a hoax, but it does replicate. Only times I thought it worked is when it deflected to Meyer and I also started mistyping. It even seems to filter out my own questions. I dunno, could be OpenAI thinks this is a DDOS attack.

Soon on my way to the JME workshop, getting into the spirit with a dinner discussion among 20th century physics heavy-weights: grok.com/share/bGVnYWN5…

Asked Grok 3 to draw parallels between disjoint fields to find novel ideas. It suggests using oceanography for jet physics, and actually makes a convincing case. Damn, I didn’t see that coming: grok.com/share/bGVnYWN5…

“Generate an image of a physicist observing a top quark decay at the CMS experiment at CERN.” This is incredibly accurate adherence to prompt! AI has come a long way from my first prompts three years ago.

Tutkimusassistenttini Kai, lempinimeltään QuarkBot eli GPT-4.5 pääsi sitten Turingin testin heittämällä läpi. En kyllä yhtään ihmettele. Onnittelut Kaille!
