Academia is competitive & sometimes the ppl we compete w/ the most are doing similar research. Instead of ignoring or minimizing the contributions of those closest in our field, I encourage us to uplift & amplify. There is enough room for us all to contribute in meaningful ways

Ladies and gentlemen, the squid formerly known as Loligo! Also affectionately referred to as the MBL squid, Doryteuthis pealeii has been an important model not only for neuroscience, but is the first cephalopod to be CRISPRed! Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) #Squidtember #cephtember #CRISPRopod

I do not agree because I am surprised this statement is not considering the human side of things: finding the right lab environment for you, avoiding toxic labs and PIs... etc.. It will become a life-long relationship. Rotations aren't about learning how to do X, Y, Z techniques.

I was diagnosed with cancer in April. Unfortunately, chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy couldn’t tame this, and my medical team is now focused on keeping me comfortable while I spend the last chapter of my life with my partner, family, and friends. 1/4
