Slightly different for #30DaysWild - Day 21. Have spent the day at the RHS so here’s two livestock breeds that can be good for #biodiversity when they’re used as part of an #extensivegrazing system - blacked nosed Valais and Belted Galloway. #farming #grasslands

Great #thunderstorm #electricalstorm to watch from indoors tonight - mainly flashes, but an occasional bolt too ⬇️ #weather #EastLothian

Day 22 of #30DaysWild - nice patches of vipers bugloss and birds foot trefoil which are good for #pollinators around the #RenaissanceGolfClub which we played today. Getting ready to welcome the world’s best in golf there in mid July. #wildflowers #wildflowerhour #scottishgolf

#Bass Fri warm sunny calm. Sat cool misty thunder rain . Today cancelled, swell and winds. Scottish weather! Hatching full on now. Lovely to see white downie chicks appearing. Soon too large to brood. At the mercy of the weather hot or wet! Scottish Seabird Centre

Day 23 #30DaysWild - my eye caught sight of this yellow toadflax from the 14th tee Dunbar Golf Club - because the flower is quite closed by its lip it requires bigger #pollinators such as bees. It’s a species widespread on dunes, disturbed and cultivated ground in Europe.

Day 24 #30DaysWild - occasionally travel and back to back meetings still take over which means no outdoor time today although I have passed through amazing parts of Scotland’s east coast which are so rich for coastal and marine wildlife - #viewfromthetrain

Day 25 of #30DaysWild - good meetings at James Hutton Institute & a walk around the exciting building works at our Craigiebuckler campus. Travel home provided a bit of time to look at some recent #seabird photos including #gannets diving #mayhem #birds

Day 26 #30DaysWild - the #muteswans around Dunbar Golf Club have had their young quite late. The #cygnets were scrabbling over the rocks in pursuit of their parents today. #bird #birds #wildlife #nature #EastLothian

Day 27 #30DaysWild - one of the nicest lanes in #Dunbar - the wild flowers in the backlands add a splash of colour and are alive with #pollinators. Maintained by the social enterprise - the Ridge. #urbanwildlife #greenspace #community

Day 28 #30DaysWild - thanks 🙏🏻 to @janeinnb.bsky.social for spotting the “mint humbugs” aka #shelduck chicks off Dunbar Golf Club ⛳️ this week. Went for a dawdle to see them although they’re keeping their distance from the shore ⬇️

It’s always nice to pick your own vegetables 🫛. Our wee plot in the corner of the garden is doing quite well so far this year with the lettuce, peas and cauliflowers putting on a good spurt. #growyourown #EastLothian

And finally #30DaysWild - Day 30. The elusive #dunnock - often we hear its melodious song but it doesn’t often appear when we’re around the garden keeping hidden in the undergrowth. A beautiful #songbird. #bird #birds #gardenbirdwatch

Enjoyable round Craigielaw Golf Club today - first time I’d played there and thought it was in very good condition. Challenging bunkers if you mishit your shot and some awkward pin positions. It was hot for golf ⛳️ #scottishgolf #golfcoast #eastlothian #golfing

Side by side Dunbar Harbour - the resident all weather lifeboat the John Neville Taylor (Trent-class, Op. No. 14‑35) and the “relief” vessel the Windsor Runner (Trent-class, Op. No. 14‑06). Thought I was seeing double 🤓

The #EuropeanShag chicks are growing up quickly at #Dunbarharbour #EastLothian - with their feathers starting to replace their fluffy down. Perched on the rocks just off the harbour seawall. #seabirds #birds #bird #naturelovers #wildlife #nature #Scotland

It’s the #kittiwakes Dunbar Harbour for #SuperSeabirdSunday - lovely to see the young chicks developing (mainly 2 in nests) on the cliff ledges. Also a bird newly ringed by the ELC Rangers which helps track movement and survival #seabirds #kittiwake #dunbarharbour #EastLothian
