Very excited to announce that NGI Data Portability and Services Incubator will be funding user account data export and migration in #Snikket and #XMPP! This project will give people more control over their data and ensure they are never locked into a specific XMPP provider. NGI4eu snikket.org/blog/dapsi-fun…

For you podcast fans! Snikket was featured and discussed in episode 89 of TuxJam, a podcast blending open-source software discussions and Creative Commons music. tuxjam.otherside.network/tuxjam-89-crus… A nice surprise, and always great to hear real-world Snikket stories!

I just submitted the second XEP ("Moved 2.0") related my work on the #XMPP account migration project. Both this and the XEP-0227 update I submitted a few weeks ago are now going through the XMPP standards process. docs.modernxmpp.org/projects/porta… (1/2)

The next stage of the project is the exciting one! Over the next couple of months I will be working on implementing these new protocols, and producing the initial software to help people migrate their data between services. So thankful for the support of NGI Data Portability and Services Incubator! ❤️

A few people have asked privately so it's probably worth publicly reassuring: Snikket (and the software it builds upon) is *not* affected by the recent log4j vulnerability (CVE-2021-44228), so your hosted and self-hosted Snikket instances are safe ✔️
