Meltdown has a place for you as a tea-addicted magical girl with drill curls and a bad attitude. Blitzed on a polydrug mix of grief seeds, synthetic serotonin, and cake, you have just iced three Witches with an array of highly cinematic Minié rifles

it’s crazy how many times this happens: “dad I want to use <slop factory designed to hijack kid dopamine>” “No” “why not? all the other kids get to?” “because I know what these engineers and PMs are trying to do to you and I won’t stand for it”

Crazy that the boomers at DuPont poisoned the entire planet, for our lives functionally forever, so people could fry eggs a little easier

Well, that would certainly warm things up… AWOS is an “Automated Weather Observation System”, often used at airports. Since you takeoff into the wind, the engines (at idle) , while not pointed directly at AWOS, probably would be blowing exhaust right over the system.

Video is an inherently anti-user medium. It's difficult to scan and skim content and therefore it encourages all kinds of anti-viewer practices that written word would never survive.

Seeing some discourse on vertical integration. However bad you think the space supply chain is, it's worse. Say some widget exists you need for your spacecraft. There are vendors that make fine products for $100k-$200k a piece. The cost to do it yourself would be 10% that.

It's the kind of thing where if you plan to build more than one or two off spacecraft it almost always is worth it to bring that in house. The only people doing volume production for space (Starlink) aren't selling components like that. There is no vendor comparable.

Tom Lehrer did some work for the NSA, and one of his papers for them contains a possibly familiar reference cheekily tucked into the bibliography 60yrs later, it was declassified when an NSA mathematician got the joke
