Once again the Somerset Cricket Museum welcomed members of the Walkers and Talkers into the Museum (Tuesday March 11th). As a follow on from International Women’s Day, we talked about some of the lesser known but equally important stories related to the Somerset Women players.

Fulfilling our educational brief we again took the SomersetCricketMuseum out of the CACG, this time to Ruishton, where we were warmly welcomed by the Taunton & District Friendship Club. The presentation covered the history of both the Somerset County Cricket Club and the County Ground

Great to have some of the Somerset Women and Hampshire women’s teams visiting the SomersetCricketMuseum this morning avoiding the rain which put paid to their friendly match.

This amazing item of Somerset Women cricket history was given to the SomersetCricketMuseum this week, with many thanks to Mr. Mark Downing, - an U13 Girls Scorebook from 2006, recording the first match in a Somerset shirt, aged 12, for Sophie Luff, and scoring 96 not out plus 4 wkts.

Somerset v Australia August 1948 We are very grateful to Alan Ranger for passing on this autographed program from the SCCC match v Australia in 1948 to the SomersetCricketMuseum. By coincidence Paul Gilley, who was in the Museum this morning was at that match and remembered it well.

The broken stump

has a new home! With many thanks to Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry, and Riley Meredith, the broken stump, autographed by Riley, now resides in the Somerset Cricket Museum. Who will forget that devastating piece of bowling?
