Our new paper <tinyurl.com/mr8fj7nm> showed that (orally trained) Deaf and hard of hearing people can detect bouba-kiki sound symbolism, but their performance is worse when their tongue movement was suppressed. This provide evidence for articulatory basis for sound symbolism.
