🥳 Congratulations to Drs Stephen Withers (WithLab), Peter Rahfeld Peter Rahfeld and collaborators on their successful seed funding to support their groundbreaking inroads with blood type antigen conversion at @ABOzymes. 🩸 👏 UBC Centre for Blood Research #Glycomics #BloodTransfusion #health

Here’s a scary-good story: we’re funding an Avivo Biomedical Inc. project that is testing an innovative technology to convert A blood types to O – paving the way to universal blood and organ transplants. If successful, this would be a life-saving leap forward. Have a🩸good #Halloween.

Member Spotlight: Avivo Biomedical Inc. (formerly ABOzymes), a British Columbia-based preclinical-stage company, has identified enzymes that convert the cell surface antigens that determine a person’s blood group to group O, the universal donor type. bit.ly/3EdkDmC

Super proud of my labmate Amir (not on twitter), and others for publishing this beautiful story in Nature! It's been so great seeing this project evolve over the years! Highly recommend reading this one! WithLab BrumerLab Michael Smith Labs @ubcchem #glycotime nature.com/articles/s4158…

Dr. Seyed Amirhossein Nasseri and tge Withers' lab (WithLab) at University of British Columbia are making waves with their latest publication! 🌊 Their work on identifying an alternative pathway for glycan degradation is featured on the latest Immunology Podcast episode! 🎧: bit.ly/4ePiaPO
