I am applauding the recent announcements of (more?) funding for science initiatives to attract researchers to the EU. But for me personally, I am disappointed that it seems to be focused more on senior professors. What about more initiatives for starting a group? Outside of ERC?

In Europe ASML turns heads by investing 1 billion in Mistral. Meanwhile Nvidia is investing 100 billion in OpenAI. It's hard to make apples to apples comparisons, but the timing of these investments really paints a picture.

I don't post a lot these days, but I'm super happy to say that since 01 October 2025 I am a professor at ULB here in Brussels. Onwards and upwards.
