On July 24th retired Deacon Dennis J. Besida returned for a visit to STA with his family for the renewal of wedding vows of his daughter, Dawn, and his son-in-law, Chris. His first visit to STA since the pandemic began.

The invitation in the #GospelOfTheDay (Jn 6:24-35) is this: rather than being concerned only with material bread, let us welcome Jesus as the bread of life and, starting out from our friendship with Him, learn to love each other. Freely and without calculation.

Today the Church honors St. Alphonsus Liguori, missionary, founder, moral and pastoral theologian, composer, bishop and doctor of the Church. Buona festa to all Redemptorists and those who share our spirit.

Let us #PrayTogether for all priests so that, following the example of #SaintJohnVianney, they may bring to all their brothers and sisters in difficulty the living Gospel of their witness of love, mercy, and solidarity.

“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” The keys to the Kingdom of Heaven were given by our Redeemer to Peter and his successors (cf. Mt 16:13–23). They are the guardians of a sacred trust. Let’s pray that they will be faithful stewards of this awesome responsibility.

God does not come in extraordinary events, but works amid the apparent monotony of our daily life, in the frequently dull rhythm of our activities, in the little things that, working with tenacity and humility, we achieve in our efforts to do his will.

Mother of Mercy, intercede for us when we are feeling resentful and seek vengeance. Show us how to forgive all who have wronged us in any way.
