HMP_Stafford great to support the PPG Social Prescribing team and their nomination for the Nursing Times magazine 🐕

We were delighted to be joined by the Mayor and Mayoress for a tour of the prison. Officer Stephen Edwards kindly facilitated the visit. It was a great opportunity to show all of the amazing things going on inside HMP Stafford. 🎗

Now we are operating at a full regime, it’s great to be able to offer all the activities contained in our 73 paged Guide to Employment and Education. Here is just a small sample to what is on offer to our prisoners.

On the 29th September we had our Family & Friends open evening to celebrate Hidden Hero’s Day. They had a chance to tour the establishment and visit all the different departments to see all the amazing work they do for our residents 🎗

We’re excited to announce that in 2023 we will be installing in-cell telephony across the prison to help prisoners maintain contact and continue to build strong family ties which is crucial to reducing reoffending. More information to come 😄📞

Today is the fourth annual #HiddenHeroes Day and I'd just like to add my own message of thanks to everyone working in UK prisons, probation, youth justice and IRCs - this is your special day, in tribute to all you do, and you deserve it! Thank you #HiddenHeroes.

On Friday we held a celebration event for Long Service recognition. Family/friends attended and joined in the celebrations as well as the opportunity to see where their loved ones work. Our thanks to the High Sherriff High Sheriff of Staffordshire Victoria Hawley for presenting.

Last week we celebrated 30 years of service and the well deserved retirement of Keith one of our PE staff. His wife Selena joined us for lunch and to meet Keith's colleagues. We wish you both a very long and happy retirement.

We held a Disability Awareness event this week with lots of stalls and activities. Our amazing librarian, Susan Wall showcased our new Reader Pens generating a lot of interest. Our Staffordshire County Council library is such an amazing space and so well used. Thanks go to the whole team.
