Tomorrow, we’re releasing the “State of State of AI”. A 5 year retrospective on how the field has evolved since 2018: the biggest narratives, unexpected breakthroughs and what didn’t pan out as expected. It’s a fun ride down history lane. Hope you enjoy :-)

two things - inference will be mega expensive compared to training if you believe that gen ai products will reach scale - if you read State of AI none of this would be breaking news - by a wide time margin 😉

Here's our V3 update to State of AI Compute Index in collaboration with the team at @ZetaVector. You'll now find updated counts of AI research papers using chips from NVIDIA, TPUs, ASICs, FPGAs, and AI semi startups, as well as updates to H100 clusters. My observations ⬇️

In today’s AI market, we’re frequently asked if we’re living through the next dotcom bubble. Hype, FOMO, daily model drops, massive rounds and overbuilt infrastructure... We think a few highlights from this year’s State of AI neatly illustrate why this is misguided. 🧵

Driven by generative AI mega-rounds - AI investment has surged in every region, according to figures in this year’s State of AI. But a combination of regulatory uncertainty, choppy markets, and deep-pocketed backers means exits are frozen. Companies are staying private for
