Based on high frequency topics I have created a predicted paper for Edexcel maths pure paper 2. Mostly made using IAL questions so students unlikely to have seen them before. Mark scheme is at the end of the document. Dropbox link: dropbox.com/scl/fi/6aa8xie…

My mum’s book group read Michael Mosley’s Just One Thing recently and one of them produced this summary of his brilliant, sensible, achievable advice (that we could all benefit from following!) #MichaelMosley #RIPMichaelMosley

Another article from the ATM journal exploring representations - this time the array and area model of multiplication. This is a good one!

There are a few things that I like consistency in when planning/resourcing lessons; one of them is the icons I use to indicate activity types. I like students to know that there is a reason behind the activity - it's not just for the sake of it. These are my Icons for next year

Over the last few years I’ve read so many great blogs on here which have shaped my thinking about school leadership. Here are a few I would recommend:

Y8 are still struggling with compound area, especially with subtraction. Today I made them write a plan without numbers before they were allowed to do any calculations. It worked pretty well - I need to do this sort of thing more often.

You might have played Cards Against Humanity but what about ā€˜Cards Against Teaching’! I’ve made this game for our end of term staff meeting with over 120 cards, but it would also make the perfect inset day icebreaker for staff. Excited to play it with staff now!

My opinion is that students in secondary should basically never write or type notes. During explanations, they should be listening. After explanations, they should be provided with concise + accurate notes. The time they would have spent writing notes should be spent answering

A Maths quiz to finish off the year! As a thank you to everyone who has used the site this year, I’ve created an 8-round Maths quiz. With many of my final lessons coming over the next few days, I wanted to focus solely on maths to keep students engaged, rather than veering into
