Stephen Hawking had hoped that his life wouldn't be defined by his disease, and, considering the enduring legacy of his scientific contributions and of his popular writings, it surely never will be! /6

Stephanie Attwater, PhD Less than a year ago, I actually found myself in an even worse situation - one in which I occasionally continued to do some pro bono work on their behalf ('cause I'm a chump, but a chump who cares) despite not having earned a penny in over 2 years! 1/

Stephanie Attwater, PhD Thankfully, (but, unfortunately, only after hemorrhaging cash for a couple years) my 'ill-conceived hostile sabbatical strategy' ended when my workplace reached out end of February last year wanting me back. Today's actually the day we close the books on calendar year 2024. /2

Stephanie Attwater, PhD Exhausting day today, but thankfully a productive one that's now over. I probably should've taken more breaks, but wanted to clear some stuff while the office staff were still around for the day. Now I just gotta fix a minor plumbing issue, and then finally cook some dinner.

I keep seeing posts about the California fires regarding whether or not you can use water from the ocean to fight them. Good news - you absolutely can use ocean water to fight fires. But! You need the right equipment for it. Luckily, Canada has some! So glad we're able to help!

NEW: The federal government says a new interpretation of the Canada Health Act will mean nurse-practitioners, pharmacists and midwives will be able to bill OHIP for medically necessary services that would otherwise be provided by a physician. thecanadianpressnews.ca/politics/provi… #onpoli

Stephanie Attwater, PhD Easily fixed minor issue, thankfully, followed by ravioli for dinner. My plan for after that had been to catch up on the news*, but I just had to 'rest my eyes' for a moment . . . and the next thing I knew it was morning! *(Eh, probably not much going on in the world anyway.)

Stephanie Attwater, PhD #SanFrancisco has it and it was used in the '89 quake. I doubt that any amount of water would have stopped the #lafires in those winds though, and I am certain the same people whining about the gov response now, would have railed against the cost. sf-fire.org/our-organizati…

Happy Individualism Day! Are you not a fan of today's other holiday which celebrates togetherness? Well, about a decade ago I made this alternative for all those who've forged their own path of rugged individualism, by creating/reinventing themselves to make it on their own. 1/

Well, about a decade ago I made this alternative for all those who've forged their own path of rugged individualism, by creating/reinventing themselves to make it on their own.

Instead of referencing Saint Valentine, this holiday is represented by a veteran with a secular title - Captain America. Cap serves as mascot for this holiday, but unlike Cupid, Cap's not looking to meddle in the lives of others by using offensive weapons like arrows to alter 2/

the fate of their relationships. No, good ol' Cap would never seek to trample the individual liberty of folks, but he will always defend them by using a defensive weapon, his shield. So, for an alternative to today's togetherness holiday, I offer this one to celebrate 3/

individualism, and heck, if you act now I'll also include truth, justice, and the American way while I'm at it, 'cause, after all, surely Cap would be a fan of Superman, right? I wish a very Happy Individualism Day to everyone in the Twitterverse today! /4

Wait, what's the deal with this flag? Are.. are we gonna become Canada's 11th province - or its 4th territory*? I mean, I'm not objecting, - just curious if I'll hafta fill out a bunch of paperwork! *(Stephanie Attwater, PhD deserves at least half credit for this tweet's specificity)

Stephanie Attwater, PhD See, now if that's the case, then it makes me suspect that my boss - despite being born here, and without any Canadian ancestry - might somehow nevertheless actually be Canadian anyway! 'Cause I never met anyone who loved paperwork more - especially endlessly making more of it.
