i’ve seen tweets saying “people don’t even realize they’re on medicaid because most states call it something else.” and i thought you guys just joking but i genuinely heard someone say today that they weren’t sure if the free state insurance they’re on is medicaid.

This is an absolute tragedy. The question we have to ask is whether any ability to notify or warn was impacted by decreases/DOGE on weather services. I don't know the answer and we can't assume it; the camp may have been isolated. But I'd want to know if I were a parent.

This is correct. We know from past experience with state work requirements for Medicaid that this is how they save money: they create a lot of red tape, and then boot eligible people off the rolls for not navigating it correctly.
