Today in The Atlantic, I go on the record & say that if one of my kids is doing something you think they shouldn't be, whether invading your space or otherwise misbehaving, you have my permission to just go ahead and tell them that.

Baby during the day: Yeah I'll sleep wherever. Cot. Bouncer. Stroller. Dealer's choice I'm not picky. Baby at night: I swear Mom if you even *think* about putting me down for 1 second I will scream so loud the neighbors call the cops. It's hold me or jail, lady. Hold me or jail!

Yes! I do this when necessary on the playground because I don’t want my son to believe that I think it’s okay for other kids to treat him badly. A parent’s silence might convey that message! Btw all you have to say is, “hey let’s not do that please,” not some crazy tirade!

Every Sunday, the print classifieds in metro newspapers are full of listings for tech jobs that aren't actually open. It's a window into a deeply flawed corner of US immigration law that hurts both US and foreign workers, yet has endured for decades. I decided to explore further:

Yikes yikes yikes "A federal investigation has found that officials at the nonprofit in charge of coordinating organ donations in Kentucky ignored signs of growing alertness not only in that patient but also in dozens of other potential donors."
