For all starting a new job soon, pay attention to the culture, listen to what's there to build a baseline. In a few months you won't hear it anymore as it normalizes you, a criteria for membership.

if teachers are not meeting informally to talk about school stuff, then building a PLC is not a viable solution to increasing collaboration. they need to value it before you build it; structures do not change values.

I would argue, leaders cannot create a new culture. They can only modify the one that is there. We cannot have a blank slate and erase minds.

climate - how you are supposed to feel (given a situation) as a condition of maintaining membership in the culture. culture - an unwritten handbook that members embrace and share with the next generation. my definitions keep changing the more I learn...

I am not convinced one negative leader can ruin the culture, unless that leader has been there for over 5 years, at which time a shift may occur, but the whole thing isn't ruined....
