I heartily agree with Fr Chris Fr Chris Phillips - these crude ill-informed categorisations do not apply to parishes Southwark Diocese in all their glorious diversity nor more widely and should be withdrawn

#Gaudate Sunday celebrated with joy at St Faith's, North Dulwich, which included blessing the newly refurbished kitchen, which was immediately pressed into use. Many thanks to Nick Quanrud, and lots of others. Southwark Diocese

We are delighted to be welcoming Bishop of Southwark to preach and preside at our Parish Mass this coming Sunday at 10.30am. The Bishop will be awarding his Lancelot Andrewes medal to two members of our congregation, and Mass is followed by a parish lunch to which all are welcome.

Re the Giles Coren article what’s interesting is what drew him into the life of the Church. Or rather what didn’t. Not fancy BMOs with shed loads of funding, not mashed together omniparishes, not any of the hierarchy’s favoured methods but ordinary parish ministry done well.

I’m going to own that ‘conservative’ title more from now on, because we want the Church of England to continue as the established chaplain to the nation that it has been for centuries. We want the Church of England to simply be the Church of England. viamedia.news/2025/03/10/on-…

I join the widespread condemnation of this horrific attack on the Al Ahli Anglican Hospital in Gaza which has led indirectly to the death of a child and demolished buildings including the Emergency Department - a tragic beginning to Holy Week compounding the suffering of so many.

Arriving in Rome, I was taken straight to St Peter’s for the lying in state. A deeply moving moment among thousands of mourners. I give thanks for Pope Francis’ witness to Jesus—his love for the poor, his thirst for justice, his work for peace,&his call to unity. ✝️ #PopeFrancis

The ancient, yet ever new spiritualities of the Christian East offer a healing balm. They merge an awareness of human misery with awe for divine mercy, so that our lowliness never leads to despair but invites us to welcome grace.

Far away from the noise of social media, these two represent the very best of the The Church of England: people giving of their time to faithfully serve Christ in his Church in ordinary ways. It's fantastic to see their contribution recognised. Thank you Bishop of Southwark

On the eve of Pentecost, let us remember that the unity for which Christians long will not be primarily the fruit of our own efforts. I would therefore invite you to join with me in imploring the Spirit’s gift of unity.
