After several long days modeling #Dorian 's Caribbean impacts, was rewarded on my walk home last night in the Boston suburbs with a gorgeous sunset. A meteorologist colleague pointed out I could thank Dorian's exhaust for the vibrant colors!

While convection returned to #Isaias tonight, allowing a mid-level vortex to reform, it has not rotated upshear & the low-level center remains decoupled. Without the low & mid-level centers becoming vertically stacked again, short-term intensification appears unlikely.

Not mincing words. As a permafrost scientist & IPCC author, I say with confidence that the cryosphere is in DIRE shape. Climate policy NOW will dictate the fate of the Arctic. In turn, the Arctic will influence all of our climate for many generations. iccinet.org/statecryo21/
