Cochrane review presentation on #FMT in #IBD - low to moderate strength evidence. Some efficacy at week 8, but not at week 12. #DDW18 My take is that further RCTs are needed before we recommend FMT for IBD patients STOP-COLITIS

We are conducting one of the largest clinical trials to date in FMT for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. Through this trial we hope to understand not just if it works but also why it works. Head over to STOP-COLITIS for more details!

We think probiotics should work in #IBD but to date the clinical trials have failed to show this effect clearly. #FMT looks very promising in #UC but is probably not a cure and may need repeat therapy. STOP-COLITIS is a UK study aiming to address unanswered questions. #FGDEBATE

Neil Smart steve brown To be honest I think although at the moment surgery is the best option I think STOP-COLITIS will radically change how we treat UC making surgery less likely...

Our review on the evidence to date for mechanisms of FMT in IBD is now online! Exciting data from STOP-COLITIS that will build on this will hopefully be presented early next year! Tariq Iqbal @walaahepgast @ye_yehtunoo UOBMTC @unibirm_MDS onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11โ€ฆ

Look out for our oral presentation next Friday morning at #ECCO2020! We will be discussing early pilot results and key host mechanisms by which FMT appears to work in UC.

Here we go ... Alan Walker talking about myths and truths of GI tract microbiota .... myth 1: "There are 10^12 bacteria/gram of colon contents" #Microbio18 - 10^12 won't fit in 1g of stool!
