3.1 Embrace Cognitive Similarity How all students learn is more similar than it is different. Our best bet for supporting mainstream students with SEND is to strengthen universal provision built around common cognitive architecture (rather than focussing on individual deficits).

We are very proud of everyone who applied to be a Senior Student in Year 10; everyone did amazing. The 14 that have been selected were absolutely exceptional, and we are looking forward to working with them over the next two years. #letyourlightshine

Fantastic day BrianClarkeAcademy! Meeting new Year 7s, exciting trips and launching Year 9 in to KS4. Our founding cohort of students did themselves proud today and started their journey to excellence in summer 2027.

Huge support for George Coles 🏳️‍🌈 here. Creating a calm, safe, purposeful learning environment where ALL children can thrive is not simple. What you see here is a team of staff working together to provide the best possible education. As he says, if you don't agree, scroll past!

Incredibly proud of our Year 9 students who have been presenting their Bronze DofE experiences in their final lessons. Their inspiring expedition aim ideas and reflections have exceeded all expectations — hearing what this journey has meant to them has been truly heart-warming .

3 years ago I took a punt on an unknown and relocated to work at a brand new school. Now I can't imagine working anywhere else. It has been an incredible journey so far and I'm excited for what's to come next. Our community of staff and students is truly exceptional and unique!

I’ve recently become a bit obsessed with lesson design, both in full curriculum packages and, thanks to Gene Tavernetti, day-to-day lesson planning. Superb delivery and familiarity with learning science cannot compensate for a lesson in which the practice doesn’t match the teaching.

Expertise isn't about having more working memory, it's about needing less of it. Experts automate many components in long-term memory and can recognise meaningful patterns instantly, bypassing the need to process individual elements. ⬇️ 🧵

Thank you to our students for a joyous last day of term. They had a brilliant time playing on the inflatable activities, including tug of war, an obstacle course, a giant slide and football darts. #letyourlightshine✨ #TheBrianClarkeCode #lastdayofschool

It’s been a phenomenal year in the library! Over 17,000 books borrowed, and a special shoutout to our top 3 readers — together, they’ve checked out an incredible 560 books! #ReadingForPleasure

And this (wonderfully explained) is why our curriculums and progression models must be expertly sequenced and allow enough time before moving on. A well sequenced curriculum is useless if students haven't grasped the concepts before advancing.

Every year, around this time, we like to remind you of the classic assembly hymn "One More Step Along the World I Go". There are other assembly songs about moving on, but none has resonated quite like this 1971 gem, from folk singer Sydney Carter.
