!!🚨New pre-print alert🚨!! Super excited to share our first proper foray into developmental biology: doi.org/10.1101/2023.1…! Below is a little 🧵of how we got here...

Our latest on planar polarity mechanisms: sciencedirect.com/science/articl… No long thread (be grateful!) but the highlights are in the graphical abstract. We're excited because after decades of work we think we're moving towards a molecular understanding of what the proteins do.

We are hiring a research specialist to help launch our lab at The University of Chicago. How does biology use physics to sculpt complex visceral organ shapes? We address the dynamic & mechanical interactions between tissue layers that link genes to geometry. uchicago.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/External/job/C…

For my planar polarity follower(s?), we have a new paper out on Fat-Dachsous. Fat-Dachsous are known to interact (signal?) in trans between cells, but we now find a second (more important!) trans-interaction suggesting new models for Fat-Ds clustering sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Matakatsu and Fehon UChicago Biological Sciences show that Dachsous and Fat function together to restrict growth by coordinately removing a “core complex” consisting of Dachs, Dlish, and Approximated from the junctional cortex. hubs.la/Q02SmKvR0 #CellSignaling #Development
