Re Trump/Rubio's aid freeze: If you work for a U.S. aid implementer -- in particular, #PEPFAR or #PMI -funded programs -- would love to hear first-hand how "stop work" orders are being interpreted on the ground. DMs are open. Happy to keep confidential.

This isn’t about bathrooms, or sport, or prisons. It is about the fundamental human right, as listed in the universal declaration, to be able to leave a country. And it is being denied to fellow citizens on the grounds of no good reason at all.

This is incredible progress, but not a day goes by when I don’t feel thankful I am a cancer patient in a rich country.

New Estimates of the USAID Cuts with Justin Sandefur ~36% of contracts by value have been terminated, including potentially all awards in sectors including private sector competitiveness, higher education, and political competition & consensus building.

This is tremendous work by Center for Global Development, Charles Kenny & Justin Sandefur finding USAID saves 3.3 million lives a year! Or rather it did until Elon Musk fed it "into the wood chipper." Now impoverished children are dying because of reckless actions by the world's richest man.
