Happy #WorldWetlandsDay! Thomas Prowse & I spent last week counting #waterbirds in southeast SA. From salt lakes to freshwater swamps & a restored old quarry. The diversity of habitats #wetlands provide is endless! Thank you to all landholders & locals for their help #ProjectCoorong

🔥Heat wave in Antarctica, +38 °C (+68 °F) above normal. That's not an error, or a typo. The remote research station at Dome C recorded a temperature nearly 40 °C above normal for this time of year, beating the previous March record by a startling 20 °C.

Fossils show that Southern Bent-wing #bats have lived at #NaracoorteCaves for over 500,000 years. It is truly shameful that we've driven them to near-extinction in less than 200 years. Australia is in an extinction crisis🦇theconversation.com/one-of-austral… Bat photo by Steve Bourne.
