Our work was cited in The Seattle Times in a tremendous piece sharing the devastating impact of the fentanyl crisis on teens. Every week, a classroom of teens dies from drug overdose across the US. My thoughts on what's needed to address this crisis: seattletimes.com/seattle-news/m…

Prof. Dr. Alison Galvani participated in a roundtable discussion about the cost of weight-loss drugs with Senator Bernie Sanders this week. Galvani discussed a new study that shows that expanding access to new weight-loss medications could prevent 32,000 deaths/year in the U.S.

Well this is something that does not happen everyday! In a new WP we show access to full-day preK is great for kids, families and pays for itself. See shoutout from Catherine Rampell at WaPo 👌

I'd like to see the 2024 candidates talk more concretely about their plans for the overdose crisis, and not just about fentanyl at the southern border. My piece in @theHill thehill.com/opinion/health…

In a new @RollCall article by @JessieHellmann, ASAM member @DrMelissaWeimer underscores the critical need to treat patients with #OUD with appropriate, life-saving doses of #buprenorphine. rollcall.com/2024/10/24/med…

Methadone and buprenorphine are lifesaving treatment for OUD. Yet less than 50% of US psychiatric hospitals offer these treatments. When people are most vulnerable and seeking help in a crisis, they still are so often not able to access evidence based care where they need it.

Shawn Cohen (@shawncohen_md) 's Twitter Profile Photo

For me this study highlights a critical point. We need to make these highly effective medications available everywhere in as low barrier a way as possible That must include where people are seeking care including for their mental health!!

Tamara Beetham, MPH (@tamarabeetham) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Medication for OUD should be accessible in all psychiatric hospitals Yet over half don't have *any* of the three MOUDs 🚨This needs be on the radar of regulators🚨

Thanks Adam Beckman MD for this 🧵 One of the concerns with pay for performance is that it can distribute payment according to population characteristics as opposed to quality of care for a given population Should we worry less about this in attempts to "pay for equity"? Well...
