Excited to share a new preprint! (1)🔬The nucleolus is the most prominent nuclear condensate, with a fascinating multilayered liquid-like structure, and is the site of ribosome biogenesis. But how does this multiphase architecture form and function? biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Congrats to Xinyao and Xie Chen! In eukaryotes, multiple transcription factors bind cooperatively to a regulatory region on genomic DNA to control gene expression. In this paper (bit.ly/3GV1BoP), we present an experimental metric for quantifying such cooperativity.

Today was a big day for the lab. We had two back to back thesis defenses and the defenders defended with great science and character. Congrats to DR. Kelly Cochran & DR. Soumya Kundu on this momentous achievement. Brilliant scientists with brilliant futures ahead. 🎉🎉🎉

Really excited to see this published! From observations we made in our lab… to a blood test that works in real life scenarios… all thanks to the many scientists, ML researchers and engineers at exai bio who have worked on bringing this to the clinic. Kudos Babak and the team!

Congratulations to our Human Neural Circuitry team; bit.ly/4dEyX7Z publishes today in Science! This was the hardest challenge of my career, but one of the most rewarding, after years of rebuilding– & for myself, expanding my inpatient neuropsychiatry work to the service

Two collaborative papers with Karl Deisseroth, 21 years apart, (with daily collaboration in life during the intervening period.) I will provide a full explainer thread on this study shortly, but have to first say how fun it is to do science with this brilliant guy☺️

Introducing Epi-PHR, the first non-disruptive, high-genomic-resolution, image-based epigenetic profiling method. Allelic Epi-PHR generates the first single-cell phased examination of histone mark deposition and 3D genome architecture at an imprinted locus by any technique. 1/8
