Canada and Australia share a close bond. We are also facing common threats and potential adversaries. Today at Halifax The Forum, I announced that our two countries will collaborate and each invest $237M on integrated air and missile defence research and development.

Canada and Australia are partnering on emerging missile defence research. Under a new project arrangement, #DSTG and Defence Research and Development Canada will collaborate on R&D to understand emerging missile threats and enhance detection and counter-measure technologies.

The main objective of the Buccaneer Main Mission is to collect high-frequency (HF) measurements in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to better understand radio-frequency (RF) propagation through the ionosphere. The satellite bus was designed by local Adelaide company Inovor Technologies.

⚛️ We are excited to announce a new cutting-edge #quantum research project for #DSTG! Funded by the Australian Army, this innovative project aims to deliver one of the hardest components of a quantum-secure timing network – a ground-to-satellite optical quantum link!

AU 🇦🇺 is leading the way in over-the-horizon radar systems thanks to over 50 years of deep collaboration between defence scientists, industry and #YourADF. #JORN, operated by Royal Australian Air Force, grew from humble origins in DSTG to be the finest operational OTHR network in the world.

👏 Congratulations! Professor Simon Barter has been recognised on the world stage for a 47-year DSTG and RMIT University research career contributing to aircraft safety. 💡 ✈️ The Plantema Medal is a fitting honour for a globally respected leader in the science of metal fatigue.
