Could we just get local officials to promise this now - Before you declare schools stay closed for 2021-2022 school year, you will close bars, gyms, & indoor dining. Seems like a good thing for officials to pre-commit to, no? #schoolsbeforebars

Nandini Gupta @nandinigupta.bsky.social Justin Sandefur The income gains to academic high-achievers from migrating average US$40,000-75,000 per year onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…. I don't know of any other action that raises incomes that much. Of course other things than income matter, but revealed preference shows many want to migrate.

Happy #CelebrateFirstGen Day! I’m so proud of all the students working to get their education. I know it can be hard, but just remember: You are never alone. So many of us are out here rooting you on — and that includes me. Keep up the great work! #ReachHigher

It is with great sadness that HSF has received news of the death of Charles Simkins. He had been in hospital over the past few months and had, until his illness, been head of research at the Foundation, for 8 years. See HSF's tribute to Charles, here: hsf.org.za/news/press-rel…
