Earlier today, @RwandaIndutry together with partners honored former IRST Staff slain in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The event was preceded by the night vigil the previous night on Tuesday May, 7th2024.

The commemoration event to honor former IRST was graded by Jean Chrysostome Ngabitsinze, PhD, the Minister for Min of Trade |Rwanda who urged mourners especially researchers to reflect on the #Rwanda's history& document it and ensure that the tragedy that befell the country is never repeated.

Mourners held a night vigil the previous night. Today they walked from NIRDA | Rwanda’s R&D in @Huyedistrict to the University of Rwanda memorial site where they laid wreaths to honor genocide victims who rest there.

Speaking during the Commemoration event NIRDA | Rwanda DG Dr. Christian SEKOMO BIRAME said IRST lost 23 employees in the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi whose lives are honored today and forever. He said that the current NIRDA Staff were ready to fill the gap left by former researchers.
