Watch as a mysterious seismic wave sweeps around the world, buzzing seismometers from Greenland to Antarctica in less than an hour! The signal appeared in Sept 2023, sending scientists on an epic hunt for their cause (🎥 via Stephen Hicks 🇪🇺, @K_Svennevig, and Alexis Marbeouf)

In the new cdr.fyi Q3 update we notice a concerning trend, the number of buyers of durable CDR, especially new ones has been stagnating and even decreased during 2024. One of the reasons mandatory interim CDR targets are so important, very few buy if they are not explicitly

Out now: our new study (preprint) on plant responses to enhanced weathering. Our results suggest that the risk of heavy metal contamination after a one-time silicate application is limited, even for steel slag. jet rijnders Arthur Vienne GlobalChangeEcology

Not all ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) deployments will work the same because not all parts of the ocean work the same. We built a new interactive mapping tool using data from ⟦C⟧Worthy to show how OAE changes based on where and when it’s deployed.

Curious about the massive #extinction of #megafauna - eg #mammoth, #mastodon, #sabercats & #sloths - in recent #prehistory, as we show in a new synthesis, the pattern is strongly coupled to Homo sapiens & w/out any consistent link to #climatechange cambridge.org/core/journals/… 🦣🐘🦣

There are now six recent studies published on 2020 low sulfur fuel regulations (in addition to Piers Forster and my early 2023 estimate). They generally find somewhere between 0.03C and 0.08C near-term; an important contributor to recent anomalous warming but not the whole story.

Here is how daily global surface temperatures have changed since the 1940s. Note that global temperatures show a modest seasonal cycle due to a higher proportion of land are in the Northern Hemisphere.
