Today marks the eight-year anniversary of the Tegan and Sara Foundation. While the end of the year is often a time to reflect, we’re proud to be looking ahead as we announce a new mission statement. Our mission: To invest in the potential of 2SLGBTQ+communities.

While our commitment to queer women and girls hasn’t changed, we also know that the work we support reaches a much broader umbrella. We will always aim to invest in the most historically excluded within the queer community.

While that includes women and girls, it also includes specifically trans and nonbinary people, queer people of color, rurally-based queer communities, and so many more. We’ve also moved toward using 2SLGBTQ+ to reflect the reality of the communities we serve in Canada.

We know that this new mission will allow us to continue prioritizing the most excluded in our community at the grassroots, community-based level - and better reflect the work we’ve done in our eight years.
