From decades of munition manufacturing at the Navy Yard, leaking underground tanks at Ft McNair, & treating our River as a literal trash dump, the federal government spent decades contaminating the Anacostia River & communities around it. I applaud the AG’s landmark action today!

NEW: A military fighter jet has crashed into San Diego Bay. This is the 6th plane collision (and 2nd military collision) since Trump took office. 10news.com/news/local-new…

NEW: In Missouri, a school district's new electric bus fleet is sitting idle in a lot 52 miles away, b/c the govt won't let them access the grant money meant to pay for them. We look at grants that are still frozen, and recipients left in the dark about why.

The descendants of Frederick Douglass hoped to have the Maryland National Guard participate in an event honoring his birthday. Then came President Trump’s anti-DEI order. Brenda Wintrode has the story of what happened next: thebaltimorebanner.com/politics-power…

Would love to see DC and Virginia do this. I appreciate Maryland’s empathetic, human approach to this disaster happening around us.

🚨The emergency is here, DC. We need to be united against this dastardly attempt to take over DC's government and strip us of funds our city government allocated. This would be a disaster for our city- and for those who reside in it- including the federal government.

Why is the District of Columbia putting in $850M toward a stadium that will host 8 games and be used once a month for non-NFL events.

I would take these poll numbers with a massive grain of salt. First, the poll was conducted before the House blew a $1.1 billion hole in the budget, further complicating the city's finances. Second, it doesn't contemplate expected tradeoffs.

Back to Mendelson: He's basically D.C.'s version of Virginia Sen. Louise Lucas, who sank the deal to move the Caps/Wizards to Alexandria. He doesn't like the public funding, he's pissed about the mayor not sending the budget over, and he has loads of power to derail the stadium.

This is truly an emergency for not only academia but the whole nonprofit sector. Once they start revoking based on political alignment - we’re in a true fascist state and civil society could start to crumble. That’s not an exaggeration.

Bowser got off the zinger she wanted, but she's only half right: One garage is indeed funded by taxes on ticket/concession sales, which wouldn't exist without the stadium. But the other, to the tune of $181M, is being paid for by Events DC, which is funded with city tax money.
